Papua New Guinea

Papua new Guinea

The time i spent in PNG was probably the best time I spent since i am travelling.it was an real adventure.not like australia, where everything goes how it goes.PNG is totally diffrent. I think they never saw or heard from backpackers before.most of the people spending their time their stay in big hotels with security and just go there for playing golf or diving.at least all the tourists there are very rich and not at dependent on a low budget. If you read in the internet about PNG its like :

“don’t go there if you are a women or gilr, don’t take a taxi, don’t talk to people in the highlands, don’t go there as backpacker….everything is to dangerous!”

But if you try it and if you give those native people a chance you probably have one of the excitings times you ever had.the people there are not canabalists or sth like this how it is written in the internet.if you are friendly to the,, they are your best friends and they are happy to help you and to look after you.so many people took care about us and lokked for our safety but they did because they were proud to show us their country.there are not many people who travel to png and live on the same level like the people in the villages ( a bit like stoneage :D )eat just the local food and enjoy learning about the culture!PNG is amazing an definitely worth to see and feel!
Arrival in port Moresby
In the capital city we stayed at a very nice lodge.the people ther were very friendly and the yhelped us to organise our travel through png.also we met marina at the airport.she lives in port Moresby and she took us around the city and we cooked together with her and her family local food! Coconut cream and vegetables.very nice!

From Moresby to goroka
The plane was just a very small one and so  asked the pilot if I can stay at the cockpit.and I could. It was an amazing view.as soon as we arrived in goroka a local women aksed us if we need help.two white girls are not normal in this area! We said yes sure and after a while she invited us to stay with her and her family. So we had village life, local food, cooking in firehuts and everything like this. The family is very nice and they tried to make our time in png the best time we could have.

Climbing mt Wilhelm
One of the maybe best things we did was climbing mt Wilhelm.its the highest mountain in Ozeania and about 4550 metres high! We took a PMV (public motoesied vehicvle) to kegsugl, the base camp of the mountain.it was an openback-vehicle and the road was not a road.it was just mud and rocks.to climb the mountain, It took us two days and it was quiete hard to climb in the coldness and the high altidude.the weather was very harsh and on the second day we had to climb for 15 hours.our legs were hurting, but we reached the top! J

At least staying in madang
Madang is the contrast to the highlands.its a city at the sea and people there are different.the highlanders are a bit more traditional and live more like in the stoneage.people in madang are a bit more modern.one day we went for diving.it was amazing.also we visited madang market.

All in all we had a really great time in PNG. I think we had a lot of luck but travelling to PNG was definitely the right decision!!the people are nice, the food is good, the countryside is beautiful!!

More pictures will coming soon!
